It was a fantabulous experience to enjoy tour with India tours and travels. India tours aranged our tour like a family person took care of each and everything. They were all time available for our calls pre post and during our tour. By their very systematic arrangements we barely called them as there were no need of the same. Thank you india tours and travels

This was my first experience with India Tours and travels and honestly it was the best decision ever. Right from planning to execution Rizwan bhai and Zaid both tried to make it a very memorable trip for us. It was girls trip, so we were a little skeptical, but they made sure our security was made top priority. Definitely would recommend them and would love to travel with you guys sooner!

The joy of Ladakh experience increased multifold with India tours and Travels. Very well managed and they did not give a chance to complain. The team in Mumbai as well at Ladakh was extremely professional and helpful and the trip was well customised. Always the first choice.
Best time to go

When to visit Uttarakhand

This tour runs all year. Each season looks completely different, so pick the one that matches what you want to see.

Spring

March – May

Pleasant weather across Nainital, Kausani and Mussoorie with clear Himalayan views from Kausani. Tea gardens at their freshest. Ideal for boating and lakeside walks. Corbett sightseeing is comfortable until late April.

Good for: couples, first visits

Summer

June – August

Hill stations are a welcome escape from the plains heat, making this the peak family season. Monsoon rain from late June can interrupt some days and occasionally affect road access — important for the Kausani–Corbett leg.

Good for: families, school holidays

Autumn

September – November

Clear skies, thinner crowds and superb Himalayan views from Kausani. Corbett reopens after the monsoon and wildlife sightings improve. Mornings and evenings get cold by November.

Good for: photography, quieter trips

Winter

December – February

Snow is possible in Mussoorie, Kausani and around Nainital. Days are crisp and clear. Corbett stays open but early safaris can be very cold. Snowfall is never guaranteed on particular dates.

Good for: snow lovers with flexible plans

About Uttarakhand

History, places and culture along this route.

Read the full guide

Kumaon and Garhwal — Two Himalayan Worlds in One Tour

Uttarakhand is split into two cultural regions: Kumaon in the east and Garhwal in the west. This 8N/9D itinerary explores both — from Nainital and Kausani in Kumaon to Haridwar and Mussoorie in Garhwal — with Corbett in the forested foothills between them. Adding Kausani and Almora gives the tour a quieter, more panoramic edge than the shorter Uttarakhand itineraries.

Nainital — The Lake District

Nainital wraps around the emerald Naini Lake, ringed by seven hills. The colonial-era Mall Road and Raj Bhavan sit alongside lakeside walks, while the surrounding Bhimtal, Sattal and Naukuchiatal lakes offer boating, birdwatching and quiet walks. Snow View Point gives a full view of the Kumaon ranges.

Kausani — Nanda Devi’s Balcony

Kausani is a small hill town perched above the Kosi river with one of the widest Himalayan panoramas in India — a 300 km sweep that includes Nanda Devi, Trishul and Panchachuli. The town is famous for its tea gardens, its Gandhi Ashram (where Gandhi wrote Anasakti Yoga), and the quiet tea-factory and shawl-weaving visits that anchor this leg of the tour. The nearby Baijnath Temple adds a 12th-century stone-architecture stop.

Corbett — India’s Oldest Tiger Reserve

Jim Corbett National Park, in the Ramganga river valley, is India’s oldest national park. It is famous for tigers, wild elephants and birdlife, best explored by jeep safari, subject to permits. The Corbett Falls and Museum add a gentle non-wildlife option on the drive in from Nainital or Kausani.

Haridwar & Rishikesh — The Ganga’s Gateway

Haridwar’s Har Ki Pauri is the site of the evening Ganga Aarti, an unforgettable riverside ritual. Rishikesh, a short drive away, is the yoga capital of the world with its Ram Jhula, Lakshman Jhula and riverside ashrams. Between them, these two towns give this itinerary its spiritual heart.

Mussoorie — Queen of the Hills

Mussoorie, perched on a ridge above Dehradun, has long been a summer retreat. Kempty Falls, Company Garden, the Gun Hill ropeway and the bustling Mall Road are the classic stops. The town blends colonial architecture with a lively bazaar atmosphere and easy access to Landour’s quieter walking trails.

Food, Culture and Practical Notes

Kumaoni cuisine — bhatt ki churkani, aloo ke gutke, kafuli — is simple, warming hill food. Local crafts include woollen shawls, copperware and wooden carvings. Travel times between destinations vary with traffic and hill conditions, and the itinerary may be adjusted to match arrival times and weather. It is worth carrying warm layers throughout the year — hill evenings are cooler than the plains.

Uttarakhand tour note: Sightseeing order may be adjusted for arrival times, traffic, weather and local access. Safari availability and wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed. Himalayan views from Kausani depend on weather and cloud cover. Visits to factories, gardens, temples and viewpoints depend on local opening and access. Travel times vary by route and hotel location.
